Socail Networking Comparison
The site i chose to explore and compare was Deviant Art. Deviant Art is a specialized social networking site in which users create their own art in various medias and share it with each other. You can have friends , and favorite artists, and there is a feed that shows all the latest posts. One can narrow down their results to specific media of art, for instance pen and ink, web design, photography, etc. Overall categories include Digital Art,Traditional Art, Photography, Asian Crafts, Literature, Film and Animation, Flash, Design Interfaces, Cartoons and Comics, Manga Anime, Anthro, Fan Art,Resources and Stock images. It is similar to Facebook in the sense that it lets you connect with other people and comment on different things they post. However, it is very different in that Deviant Art is specialized and only consists of art posts.

This post features a jam band from my home town in Connecticut. The band is called "The Mclovins". Members include drummer Jake Huffman, bassist Jason Ott, and guitarists Atticus Kelly and Justin Berger. I first heard of the Mclovins when they were featured on a news excert called Better Connecticut. After their feature on the show, and after posting an amazing cover of Phish's song " You Enjoy Myself" the band was quickly noticed. Since then Mclovinsn have flurished into an intense pyschadelic jazz oriented jam band headlining major festivals such as "The Gathering of The Vibes". Vibes is a famous Ct music festival that takes place in bridgeport connecticut. Other festivals include StrangeCreek, and Wormtown. Mclovins are sure to continue their rise to greatness in the world of Jam music.
Dave Grohl and His Big Mouth
At the recent Grammy awards, Foo Fighters front man Dave Grohl made a statement that put some viewers into a rage. In his acceptance speech, he spoke about the human element of music. He stated that winning the award showed that the human element is what counts, and that all the new music that's being synthesized rather than played doesn't light a candle to the real thing. Grohl received some serious cyber grief over the matter, when many angry fans complained about his rant over the Internet. Grohl has since apologized, and clarified that he is a lover of all kinds of music, and that he was misunderstood.

Martin 00-45SC John Mayer edition
Martin guitars has announced a new signature series by a very well renowned artist. The oo-45 SC John Mayer edition. The guitar is much different than your typical acoustic. It is a very small guitar consisting of 12 frets, more seen in the style of folk music. The back, side and front plate's are made of cocobolo wood. While the sound board is made of Adirondack spruce. Only 25 guitars will be created for sale, and will retail at about $14,000. Despite how badly I personally want this esqusite instrument, that is by no means feasable. LOL. Also, each guitar will be signed and numbered by John personally, giving this already incredibly unique guitar a touch of pricelessness.
John Mayer new album postponed
John Mayer has been working on his up coming album, " Born and Raised" for the past two years. Writing, recording and perfecting his tracks. However, the much anticipated record had to be postponed due to a throat condition he has contracted. The condition is know as granuloma. Granuloma is a benign growth next to the vocal chords, brought on by irratation or trauma. Fans eagerally await news on the record's release, but it has been said it may be released this coming spring. Which will mean a summer tour, and i'm sure every John fan is as psyched as I am after the performances he put on in his last tour. I was lucky enough to see him twice that summer. Hopefully this summer will be a repeat!
